General

Where is RS Racing Wheels & Battery located?

We are at 27, Jalan Setia 3/13, Taman Setia Indah, 81100 Johor Bahru, close to Mount Austin, Taman Daya and Austin Crest.

Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins are welcome for tyres, balancing and batteries. For rim upgrades, suspension and brake work, WhatsApp us first so we can confirm parts and reserve a bay.

Which vehicles do you specialise in?

4x4 pickups and SUVs such as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi Triton, Isuzu D-Max, Toyota Fortuner and Nissan Navara, as well as regular passenger cars.

What is the difference between standard and Road Force balancing?

Standard balancing corrects weight distribution. Road Force balancing also measures how the tyre and rim behave under load, which catches stiffness variation and runout that cause vibrations standard balancing cannot fix.

How do I know if my rim offset is wrong?

Signs include tyre rubbing on the fender or suspension, a floating or twitchy feel at speed, and the wheel sitting visibly too far in or out of the arch. We measure and correct this before fitting.

Do you offer wheel alignment for lifted 4x4s?

Yes. The Hunter HawkEye Elite handles lifted and modified geometry, and we set the angles for your actual ride height rather than stock figures.

Can I pay by card or e-wallet?

Yes. We accept cash, debit and credit cards, DuitNow QR and Touch n Go eWallet.

Sport rim upgrade

What rim sizes fit a Hilux, Ranger, Triton or D-Max?

Most modern Malaysian 4x4 pickups run a 6x139.7 PCD with a 106.1 mm centre bore. Safe widths are typically 8J to 9J in 17 to 20 inch with offsets between +0 and +30 depending on your lift and tyre size. We confirm against your exact vehicle before ordering.

Will a bigger rim make my ride harsher?

A larger rim with a lower-profile tyre firms up the ride. We pair the rim with a tyre profile that keeps your overall diameter close to stock so comfort, speedometer accuracy and ABS calibration stay right.

Do you fit rims I bought elsewhere?

Yes. We check fitment first. If the offset or centre bore is wrong we will tell you before we mount anything.

Tyre replacement and maintenance

How often should 4x4 tyres be rotated?

Every 8,000 to 10,000 km, or at every second oil service. Heavy 4x4s wear the front tyres faster, so rotation extends the life of the full set.

How do I read the manufacturing date on a tyre?

Look for the DOT code on the sidewall. The last four digits are the week and year, so 2325 means week 23 of 2025. We recommend replacing tyres older than six years regardless of tread.

All-terrain or highway-terrain for daily driving in JB?

If more than 90 percent of your driving is tarmac, a highway-terrain tyre is quieter, grips better in rain and lasts longer. Choose all-terrain if you regularly drive plantation or site roads.

Wheel balancing

What is Road Force balancing?

A Hunter Road Force balancer presses a roller against the spinning tyre to simulate the road. It finds stiffness variations and rim runout that a standard spin balancer cannot see, then tells the technician how to match the tyre to the rim for the smoothest result.

My steering shakes at 100 km/h. Is that balancing?

Usually yes. Vibration that starts and stops in a speed band is classic imbalance. If it persists after a standard balance, Road Force balancing or a bent rim check is the next step.

3D wheel alignment

How often should I align my 4x4?

Every 10,000 km, after any suspension work or lift, and whenever you notice pulling or a crooked steering wheel.

Does a lift kit need a special alignment?

Yes. Lifting changes camber and caster. We set the geometry for the new ride height rather than stock figures, which is why lifted trucks aligned elsewhere often still wander.

Suspension upgrade

How high can I lift without changing driveshafts?

For most pickups, 2 inches is the practical limit before CV angles and driveshaft geometry need attention. We advise on the full package, not just the springs.

Brake maintenance and caliper upgrade

Do bigger tyres need bigger brakes?

Larger tyres increase rotating mass and leverage against the brakes. A 33 inch tyre on stock brakes stops noticeably slower, so a pad and disc upgrade at minimum is wise, with a caliper upgrade for towing or heavy loads.

Engine oil service

Which oil grade for a diesel 4x4 in Malaysia?

Most modern diesel pickups specify a 5W-30 or 5W-40 fully synthetic that meets ACEA C3 or the manufacturer approval. Check your manual or ask us. Heat and towing do not change the grade, but they do shorten the interval.

Car battery replacement

How long does a car battery last in Malaysian heat?

Two to three years is typical. Heat speeds up internal degradation, so a battery that is fine in cooler climates for five years rarely lasts past three here.
